The Ducks saw the cornerstone of their franchise ride off into the sunset as captain Ryan Getzlaf retired at the end of last season. In order to fill his shoes, Ryan Strome comes in and solidifies the second-line center spot. Also somewhat surprisingly, Anaheim signed Klingberg to join a crowded right side of the defense. Besides those two pillars, Vatrano comes in to fill a supporting role up front, and a slew of depth defensemen were shuffled in and out.

The Ducks, as planned, are turning over the fate of the team to a new young core led by Zegras, Terry, and Drysdale. Look for World Junior star McTavish to push for rookie of the year. Comtois, who led the team in points two seasons ago, will look to bounce back from a down season. If he can, this offense can potentially be in the top half of the league.

Fantasy Impact
Studs: John Gibson
Duds: John Klingberg
Sleepers: Adam Henrique
Other Roster Worthy: Troy Terry, Trevor Zegras, Ryan Strome, Jamie Drysdale
We're expecting a rebound of a season from one of the league's previously dominant goaltenders in Gibson. For season-long and best puck leagues, he projects to hog the start share (close to 80%) with a modest 2.86 goals-against average and .906 save percentage.
Zegras and Terry will be the most-owned fantasy skaters on the team, but it's projected linemate Adam Henrique who should reap in the benefits of playing as their left wing. If he can stick on the top line, he has a solid chance at leading the team in points.
Klingberg, on the other hand, will be over-drafted on name recognition. He will likely have to split powerplay opportunities with Drysdale, Fowler, and Shattenkirk which will cut into his production.

We're generally higher than DraftKings sportsbook on the Ducks, although a ceiling of 98 points with plenty of uncertainty due to the team's lack of experience isn't quite enough for us to recommend a flier on a division win or any other futures bet.
They could be a fun underdog to bet on throughout the season, however, so keep an eye on our daily picks and win probabilities.

Playoffs? Unlikely
Anaheim projects as a fun, up-and-coming team, but they would really have to hit on all cylinders in order to challenge for a playoff spot this season. San Jose should help keep them out of the cellar of the division, but they're likely more in a tier with the Seattle than the top tier of Calgary, Edmonton, Los Angeles, Vancouver, and Vegas.
